Human2Human - sustainable development and an authentic encounter with local culture.

Starting point

This incentive trip to Panama was designed as an original Bespoke concept for a group of key business partners from the IT sector. From the beginning, the objective was not only to reward participants but also to create an experience that would combine integration with educational and social value. Instead of proposing a standard incentive programme based on comfort and sightseeing, we designed an alternative format focused on direct engagement with the local cultural and environmental context.

The concept involved a multi-day expedition into the Chagres jungle region and a meeting with the indigenous Embera community. At the same time, the programme required participants to step outside the typical framework of corporate travel and experience conditions very different from their everyday professional environment.

Concept

An incentive journey built around human connection and sustainability. The guiding idea of the project was Human2Human – direct interaction with a local community instead of a staged cultural presentation.

The programme focused on three key principles:

  • shared experience outside the participants’ everyday environment,
  • education through authentic cultural encounters,
  • CSR activities designed in cooperation with local partners.

Rather than positioning the destination itself as the main attraction, the emphasis was placed on meaningful interaction and a deeper understanding of the local social and environmental context.

Execution

Several days in the Panamanian jungle – beyond standard tourist infrastructure. Participants travelled into the Chagres jungle region, where the programme was centred around a visit to an Embera community and exploration of the surrounding rainforest. Key elements of the programme included:

  • a journey to an Embera village,
  • meetings and conversations with community members,
  • consultations regarding potential CSR initiatives,
  • exploration of the Chagres jungle region,
  • an expedition into a flooded cave deep in the tropical forest.

Operating without typical tourist infrastructure allowed the programme to function as an immersive expedition rather than a conventional corporate trip.

Key experiences

Direct contact with local culture and environment. The most important moment of the programme was the encounter with the Embera community, which allowed participants to gain insight into their way of life, their relationship with nature, and the challenges faced by indigenous communities. The absence of formal presentations or staged cultural shows created space for genuine dialogue and reflection.

These conversations focused on topics such as:

  • sustainable development,
  • environmental protection,
  • the functioning of local communities in remote regions.

Jungle exploration added a strong element of discovery and adventure, taking participants beyond their comfort zones and reinforcing the experiential nature of the programme.

An important part of the programme was the CSR component, developed in consultation with local partners and representatives of the Embera community.

The process included:

  • discussions with community leaders,
  • identifying the needs of the local community,
  • exploring potential forms of long-term support.

This approach allows incentive travel to become more than a reward mechanism – it can also serve as a platform for sustainable cooperation with local communities.

Elements that defined the experience

  • Direct encounter with the indigenous Embera community
  • Exploration of the Panamanian jungle
  • Expedition into a flooded cave
  • Intercultural education through the Human2Human concept
  • CSR consultation with local community leaders

Outcome

The journey to Panama demonstrated that incentive travel can combine integration, education and social responsibility within a single programme. Participants experienced a format of corporate travel based not only on location, but on authentic interaction with the social and environmental context of the destination. The project was recognised internationally with the Eventex – Global Eventex Award in the Incentive Event category.
